The Family and Consumer Science Program provides students with the opportunity to elect courses which are designed to expand their knowledge and gain experience in the following areas:  Early Childhood, Professional, Social & Independent Living and Foods & Nutrition.  The courses offered in the Early Childhood Program are Child Development I, Child Development II, Working with Children and The Early Childhood Field Experience.  The courses are open to all interested students, however those students who select and successfully complete the Early Childhood Program can qualify for State Certification through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts EEC Early Education and Care.  This certification enables the licensee to teach in a private Child Care facility as an Infant/Toddler or Preschool teacher.

Students interested in the “Tech Prep” 2+2 Program” with North Shore Community College in Early Childcare can fill out a nonbinding letter of intent and have it placed on file with the guidance department.  For more information see you guidance counselor and/or teacher.  This program allows for college credit and advanced placement at North Shore Community College if requirements are met.  Students interested in either State Certification or Tech Prep 2+2 should consider the following Scope and Sequence.
