Offerings in mathematics at Salem High School aim at making each student mathematically literate. Toward this end the department is committed to the following standards for each student:
to become a competent problem solver.
to learn to reason abstractly and logically.
to learn to value mathematics and its connections.
to learn to communicate clearly, and
to become confident in one's own ability.
MATHEMATICS GUIDELINES:
1. All students must pass three units of mathematics in order to graduate.
2. Students entering the work force upon graduation will benefit from further work in mathematics.
3. College bound students should take four years of mathematics.
4. All students should consult with their teachers and counselors about their program of studies.
5. Credit for computer, SAT Prep, and MCAS Prep courses does not fulfill mathematics credit requirement
