The Science Department offers students a core of science courses including Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics, as well as a rich variety of electives such as Environmental Science, Marine Science, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Forensics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Environmental and the Human Body in Health and Disease. All science courses at Salem High School involve a laboratory component.  It is recommended that a fourth year of science be taken for those students interested in pursuing a career in any of the science related fields.  Students should discuss their sequence choices with their guidance counselor, science teacher, and parents.

Science Graduation Requirements:
  • Students are required to pass a minimum of three (3) units of science.
  • Students are also required to take and pass an MCAS Science exam- a majority of our students take freshman Biology and then the MCAS Biology Exam in June of their freshman year.
